Ayat Al-Kahf RootWords

سورة الكهف - 18 -

بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
1

الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ الْكِتَابَ وَلَمْ يَجْعَل لَّهُ عِوَجَا ؕ ࣝ

جَعَلَ,
كَتَبَ,
حَمِدَ,
نَزَلَ,
عَبَدَ,
عَوِجَ,
All the praise to Allah. He is the One who revealed the Book to His slave, and He did not place a deviation (a twist) in this.
2

Rise and warn them of a severe calamity from Him and give the good news to the believers who do righteous deeds that there is a good reward for them.
3

مَاكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا ۙ

أَبَدَ,
مَكَثَ,
They will dwell therein forever.
4

وَيُنذِرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللّٰهُ وَلَدًا ࣗ

قَالَ,
أَخَذَ,
وَلَدَ,
And to warn those who say, “Allah has taken a son.”
5

مَّا لَهُم بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَا لِآبَائِهِمْ ؕ كَبُرَتْ كَلِمَةً تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ ؕ إِنْ يَّقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبًا

قَالَ,
عَلِمَ,
كَذَبَ,
خَرَجَ,
كَلِمُ,
فَاهَ,
أَب,
كَبَرَ,
They do not have any knowledge about this, nor did their forefathers. A big word of lie comes out of their mouths. They say nothing but lies.
6

فَلَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ عَلَى آثَارِهِمْ إِن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا

أَثَرَ,
بَخَعَ,
حَدَثَ,
نَفُسَ,
أَ سِفَ,
أَ مُنَ,
لَعَلَّ,
So, perhaps you will kill yourself with grief for their preferences, that they do not believe in this conversation (report).
7

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا

جَعَلَ,

حَسَنَ,

زَانَ,
حَسَنَ,
عَمِلَ,
أَيُّ,
Indeed, We made it a decoration, what is on the earth (We put the charm in the world), for Us to test who among them will pursue a good deed (who does not forget Allah and give thanks to Him for all livelihood).
8

وَإِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا ؕ

جَعَلَ,
صَعِدَ,
عَلَا,
And We will make whatever is on it (earth) a leveled barren (land).
9

أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْكَهْفِ وَالرَّقِيمِ كَانُوا مِنْ آيَاتِنَا عَجَبًا

Did you consider that the companions of the cave and the inscription (scripted message) are among Our surprising signs?
10

إِذْ أَوَى الْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى الْكَهْفِ فَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

When the young men took shelter in the cave, they said, “O our Rabb, grant us Mercy and pave the way for us a right course of action in our matter.
11

فَضَرَبْنَا عَلَى آذَانِهِمْ فِي الْكَهْفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدًا ۙ

سَنَته,
أَذن,
ضَرَبَ,
كَهْف,

Then We sealed their ears (stroke ringing in their ears) (to stay) in the cave for many years.
12

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَاهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَيُّ الْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَى لِمَا لَبِثُوا أَمَدًا ࣖ

Then, We woke them up to know who among the groups had a better count of how long they stayed in their place.
13

نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُم بِالْحَقِّ ؕ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ آمَنُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَاهُمْ هُدًى ۖ ࣗ

We will narrate the true story to you with their information. They were young and believed in their Rabb, and We increased their guidance (We guided them on the right way towards their Rabb).
14

وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا فَقَالُوا رَبُّنَا رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَ مِن دُونِهِ إِلَهًا لَقَدْ قُلْنَا إِذًا شَطَطًا

And We connected (bounded) their hearts when they were steadfast, and they said, “O our Rabb, The Rabb of the universe and the earth; we will never call on any god other than Him, Indeed, (truly) (if) we say that then we would be gone too far in excess (crossing the limit of lying).”
15

“Now that you have separated (isolated) from them (that community) who were worshipping beside Allah, then take shelter in the cave. (Saying) He will gather you, Your Rabb, under His mercy and arrange (make) your matters convenient.”
17

And you will see the sun when it rises; it turns away (inclines slanted from) their cave to the right, and when it sets, it cuts away (scraps off) to the left, as they are in the caves's opening. These are among the signs of Allah. Whoever Allah guides, he is the guided one, but whoever He leaves misguided, you will never find a supporter or guide for him.
18

You will think they were awake, but they were asleep. And We rolled them over, turning them right and to the left, with their dog sitting with its forearms spread at the doorstep firmly. If you come to them suddenly, you would turn back from them, running away and filled with fear of them.
19

And he should be friendly and kind, and they (people of the town) should not recognize any of you.”

We made them discover so they would know that Allah's promise is the truth and that the time will end; there is no doubt about it. When they disputed among them in their matter, they said, "Construct on them a building." Their Rabb knows best about them. Those who were dominant in their affairs said, "We will follow (with construction) a mosque for them."

So, do not be doubtful about it; it is only an open dispute, and do not ask (give) an opinion on this about them to anyone.

As salamu alaikum. Based on my research and understanding, I believe that the root words for يَحُورَ are ح - ا- ر which can be used to imply "returned", "change from a good state to a bad state", "decrease", "confusion".This maybe a wrong observation. Please look into it and guide me. JazakAllah.

Response:

Walakum As salam. Inaaya According to the dictionary, there are many translations of the root word for يَحُورَ, ح - ا- ر,حَارَ including to return, to be reduced, white, and alley, etc., with other meanings of other morphed forms that are available by clicking on the link of dictionary Page # 176 of the word حَارَ. The translations follow the meanings of the dictionary. In the translation for the Surah No. 84--الإنشِقاق--Splitting Open --.Ayat No 14 is translated as "to return," and it is the correct translation. Let us know of a particular Ayat in your references. I hope it answers your inquiry. May Allah (SWT) reward you for your efforts. JazakAllah Khair.

ASA, "I have completed reading the entire Quran, which took me almost a year. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and reflecting on the verses. The most fascinating part was learning the root words with a dictionary, which helped me to better understand the Quran. May Allah (SWT) reward you in this world and the hereafter."

Great work done here may Allah SWT accept this endeavour and increase you and your team in knowledge, just a couple of inputs, one the dictionary you have used gives many example of words and example outside of the Quran Vocubalary, can you attach some good lexicon of Quranic arabic, second is it possible to show the dictionary page a copy able text so people can use it for their personal research. Again good work, please continue the development. Jazak Allahu Khair

Response:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Kamran Shaikh, Thank you for your valuable advice on adding a Quranic Lexicon to increase the understanding of the Quran. This task would require a team of scholars to research the historical context and include the latest scientific proofs to explain the definitions and meanings backed by research references. We have already included a few references, such as the supernova explosion with the plasma jet stream in Surah Tariq. We invite interested audiences with expertise in the scientific community to establish a committee and work together to publish a Qur'anic Lexicon to improve our understanding of the Al-Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who received the Glorious Al-Quran. We are grateful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala for this blessing and strive to understand His message and seek His forgiveness. We appreciate your encouraging comments. Kindly inform us of any errors or suggestions for improvements. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. جزاك اللهُ خير Jazaka Allahu Khairan: May Allah reward you with good.

Simply copy the ayat and paste it into Google's translation from Arabic. The Romanized English words will appear below the Arabic ayat. This feature will be helpful for you, and you can also use the listen feature. Additionally, websites offering transliterated Romanized English Quran are available. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. Jazaka Allahu Khairan!

Assalamu alaikum , may I know root letter for اتقوا thank you

Response:

Assalamualaikum, Thank you for your inquiry. I have used the root for اتقوا as تَقَى; however, وَقَى, has the same meaning when used as a verb. If we use, “those who are afraid of Allah”, we can use وَقَى, as root words. If we use “those who are devout, and pious”, then we can use تَقَى, as the root word. Allah Knows the Truth, The Best, May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. Jazaka Allahu Khairan: ًجزاك اللهُ خيرا, "May Allah reward you with good

Assalamoalaikum, may Allah swt grant immense ajar in the akhira and also dunya to the makers of this priceless app. With utmost respect, I wish to point out that in surah 87 , ayah 16 the root word of توثرون is mentioned as ث ر ا meaning "wealth", the word توثرون is from باب افعال so it can not be ث ر ا, whereas other sources have confirmed that the root is ا ث ر meaning "to prefer" and it matches the وزن of باب افعالIt is a great pleasure reading the quran with the root words, jazak Allaho khairan kaseera

Response:

Arabic root word for ' you decend '

Response:

Assalamualaikum, Uzma Khawar, A simple translation for "you descend" is "تنزل", derived from the root word "نَزَلَ". Surah 26, Ayat 221 is one of several verses in the Quran where the word "descend" is mentioned. May Allah reward you for your efforts. Jazaka Allahu Khairan: جزاك اللهُ خيرا.

Response:

Walakum Assalam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuhu Sharjeel Thank you for an excellent question about Arabic root words. We must learn Arabic grammar rules, including Arabic pronouns, male-female gender, singular, dual, and plural forms, and verb forms. You can visit the Arabic Grammar link on this website for verb forms and see how the verbs are morphed according to the Arabic Sarf forms. Let us know if the link helped you understand the root word. AoA. Thank you for compiling the roots in one place. Barak Allahu Feek! In looking at some of the root words you show, some are different that what other sources say. As an example for 1:5, the word الصِّرَاطَ is generally tied to the root صِرَط, but you are showing صِرَاط. There are several others that do not match with typical conventions. I don't know Arabic at all, let alone what roots are 'true'. Just humbly requesting if you can share what specific source do you follow to list the roots? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated, and will help me align my understanding of the various ways of looking at the Quranic text, iA. Thank you again for the great work you have initiated. SA

Response:

Walakum Assalam, Fahad, Appreciate your comment. The root words are normally listed in separate alphabets, but the reader of the Quran will not easily identify the words of Quranic Ayats. The Dictionary of the Modern Literary Language Compiled and Arranged by MAAN ZULFI MADINA shows the root word most closely listed in written forms. Checking in the dictionary on pp-371, the word used is صِرَاط with the meanings of way and path. The word for ارض is shown as أَرَض. The word wrapping sometimes becomes a problem in the data and should be ارض. There are a few words that will be updated to be the same as shown in the dictionary. We will keep updating the root words as shown in the dictionary. Originally the work was developed in excel with the link function and find function of root words in the Quran. Now we have used SQL to upload the files. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. Jazaka Allahu Khairan: ًجزاك اللهُ خيرا “May Allah reward you with good.”

Dear Admin, you have written صدق الله العظيم as part of every sorah and even given it an ayat number while it is not part of the Quran. The Holy Quran does not have this verse and there is no example of writing these words in the Quran so please remove this as it is a kind of tehreef.JazakAllah

Salam - For the last 10 years I have been searching for a similar tool that can connect the Quranic ayats with their root words. This is a revolutionary tool that truly fulfils the gap in understanding that existed between the meaning and spirt of each ayat. After gaining this deeper level of understanding the process of reading quran becomes a process which is a dialogue between your soul and Allah. Now i understand why this message was such a transformational tool in the lives of sahaba since they understood the root meaning of quranic ayats. I feel like this is the need of the hour and this tool will truly helps us in establishing and connecting back to our true ibrahimic roots. I would like to send my deepest gratitude to team behind this master piece.May the ummah benefit from this revolutionary tool.

Walakum Assalam, Kashif The Website is working good, sometimes the links takes time to respond and open the page of the dictionary. If you wait or login again it should resolve the issue. Keep us informed if you find that word links are not responding. We are working on upgrades where each word will be directly linked to Dictionary. JAK
