||
|
||
| In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful and the Most-Compassionate | ||
| 1 |
|
| They ask you about the bounties. Say, “The spoils of war (booty, bounties) are for Allah and the Messenger.” So, fear Allah, reform among yourself, and follow Allah and His Messenger if you are believers. | ||
| 2 |
|
| Truly, the believers are those when Allah's name is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, their belief increases, and they trust their Rabb. | ||
| 3 |
|
| They are the ones who establish the prayers and give from the provisions We have bestowed upon them. | ||
| 4 |
|
| These true believers hold high ranks with their Lord, receive forgiveness, and enjoy generous provisions. | ||
| 5 |
|
| Like How your Rabb sent you out (to fight non-believers at Ghazwa Badr) from your home rightly, and indeed, a group (of Muslims) of the believers were unwilling (to fight Makkans and return to Madinah). | ||
| 6 |
|
| They dispute with you about the truth after it has become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they look on. (considering the possibility that they may be dead). | ||
| 7 |
|
| And when Allah committed a group (one of two groups: one group of a caravan of nonbelievers returning after trading in Syria, a weaker group, and one group of nonbelievers marching in from Makkah to fight, a stronger group) for you, and you (some of the believers) loved that other than the bravery (fighting) might be for you. Allah desires that truth be actual with His words and eradicate nonbelievers. | ||
| 8 |
|
| For the truth be the truth and falsehood get eradicated, even though the criminals detested. | ||
| 9 |
|
| When you called upon your Rabb for help, He answered, "I will assist you with one thousand angels in succession." | ||
| 10 |
|
| Allah has made this (the help of angels) as only good news and satisfaction to your hearts. And there is no help except the help of Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Powerful and All-Wise. | ||
| 11 |
|
| When He covered you with drowsiness to bring a feeling of peace from Him, and He sent down rain on you from the sky, to clean you with it, and to take away the filth of the shaytan (doubts and fears), and to connect your hearts, and with this, firmly establish your initiative. (The Muslim army had a refreshing night of sleep before the battle started, a blessing from Allah, Ref. The Battle of Badr was fought on Tuesday, 13 March 624 CE,17 Ramadan, 2 AH). | ||
| 12 |
|
| When your Rabb inspired the angels, "I am with you, to establish (strengthen) those who believe. I will put terror in the hearts of those nonbelievers. So, strike on their necks and every fingertip". | ||
| 13 |
|
| That is because they separated (breakaway, split away) from Allah and His Messenger. And whoever separates (breaks away, splits away) from Allah and His Messenger, then indeed, Allah is severe to Punish (Follows in penalty). | ||
| 14 |
|
| “It is for you, so taste it.” It is the punishment of the Fire for nonbelievers. | ||
| 15 |
|
| O you those who believe! When you meet those nonbelievers who are advancing (marching towards you), do not turn your back on them. | ||
| 16 |
|
| Whoever turns his back to them on that day (tries to escape), except to change positions for the fight or gain control of another group, has returned with wrath from Allah, and his place is Hell—a wretched destination. | ||
| 17 |
|
| Then you did not kill them, but Allah killed them. And you did not throw sand, but Allah threw sand. And Him to test the believers from this, a good trial. Truly, Allah is All-Listening and All-Knowing. | ||
| 18 |
|
| This is for you. And indeed, Allah weakens the plans of the nonbelievers. | ||
| 19 |
|
| (O Makkan non-believers) If you (wanted to) begin (start a fight), then the beginning (of fighting) already started (came to you). And if you restrain (hold yourself), that is better for you. And if you return (to attack), We will return (to fight back with you), and your troops will be useless in anything even though you are numerous. And indeed, Allah is with the believers. | ||
| 20 |
|
| O you those who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him (the messenger) while listening (to his commands). | ||
| 21 |
|
| And do not be like those who say, “We listen,” while they do not listen. | ||
| 22 |
|
| Indeed, the wicked animals near Allah are the deaf and dumb, who do not understand. | ||
| 23 |
|
| If Allah Knew any good in them, they would have surely listened; if they listened, they would still turn away while objecting (rejecting Islam). | ||
| 24 |
|
| O you who believe! Answer Allah and His Messenger when they call you, which gives you life. And know that Allah comes between the man and his heart (desires), and you will be gathered towards Him. | ||
| 25 |
|
| And be fearful of seduction which will reach, not especially (primarily) to those who are unjust among you; and know that Allah is severe in punitive punishment. | ||
| 26 |
|
| And remember when you were few, weakened in the earth, fearing that men will abduct you; then (but) He sheltered you (gave peaceful place), and helped with His assistance, and gave you pure and clean provisions of livelihood, so, that maybe, you will be thankful. | ||
| 27 |
|
| O you those who believe! Do not betray Allah and the Messenger, nor betray your trust, while you know. | ||
| 28 |
|
| And know that your wealth and your children are a test (seduction) and that with Allah is a great reward. | ||
| 29 |
|
| O you who believe! If you fear Allah, He will grant you evidence (to distinguish right from wrong), cover your sins, and forgive you. And Allah is with Great Grace. | ||
| 30 |
|
| When ungrateful made plots against you, to resist you, or to kill you, or drive you out, while they were planning, Allah was also planning. And Allah is the best planner of all. (Note: This was the night of the migration to Madina). | ||
| 31 |
|
| And when our verses are recited on them, they said, we have heard. If we wanted, we could have said something similar to this; these are nothing but fable tales of the earlier ones. | ||
| 32 |
|
| And when they said, “O Allah if this has been the truth from You, rain down on us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment.” | ||
| 33 |
|
| And Allah would not punish them while you are among them. And Allah would not punish them as long as they ask for forgiveness. | ||
| 34 |
|
| Yet why should Allah not punish them when they prevent others from the Sacred Mosque, while they are not supporters of it? Indeed, its supporters are only those who are God-fearing, but many of them do not know. | ||
| 35 |
|
| And their prayer near the (Sacred) house was nothing but whistling and clapping, so taste the punishment because you were not believing. | ||
| 36 |
|
| Indeed, nonbelievers spent their wealth to hinder the path of Allah. Then, soon, what they are spending on it will become a source of grief, and then they will be defeated. Those who do not believe will be gathered towards the hell. | ||
| 37 |
|
| Sure, Allah will separate the evil from the good, and He makes the evil (doers support) one another, and so, (their sins) get accumulated (one sin on top of another sin) together, then He will place them in Hell. They are the losers. | ||
| 38 |
|
| Say to those who did not believe: if they abstain, then they will be forgiven for what has already been done in the past. But if they repeat, then indeed, (the same) practice is passed by the previous (generations). | ||
| 39 |
|
| Fight to them until no enticement remains, and religion remains entirely for Allah. But if they terminate, Allah is All-Seer to what they do. | ||
| 40 |
|
| And if they return, know that Allah is your Supporter, the Excellent Supporter, and Helper. | ||
| 41 |
|
| Know that whatever you gain (benefits, war booty) of anything (of any value), then for Allah is one-fifth, and for His Messenger, the near relatives, the orphans, the poor, and the travelers, if you believed in Allah and what We have sent on Our slave on the day of the separation,(the day when believers and non-believers were separated) the day to meet the two (forces) gathered. Allah has control over everything. (Ref. The Battle of Badr, Day of the Criterion, was fought on Tuesday, 13 March 624 CE, 17 Ramadan, 2 AH). | ||
| 42 |
|
| When you were on the near side of the elevated valley, and they were on the far side of the elevated valley, and the riders (cavalry) were below you. And if you agreed to meet among you, you would have failed in the appointment, but Allah has decided the matter; it has to be done so that those who perish would perish by clear evidence, and those who survive would survive by clear evidence. Indeed, Allah is All-Listening, All-Knowing. | ||
| 43 |
|
